A PERFECT BLENDING OF THE SEASONSA PERFECT BLENDING OF THE SEASONS
The winter alpenglow, the cool spring rains, the lazy buzz of summer days, the way the autumn light reflects off the lake - experience a perfect blending of the seasons in a setting so peaceful that work, natural beauty and the closeness of family are effortlessly integrated into a whole and wholesome lifestyle. Where the need for privacy balances perfectly with access to the outside world.

At 21,000 square feet, this truly one of a kind residence has been featured in many national magazines and many large syndicated newspapers including the New York Times and The Robb Report.

The home, which can function just as easily as a retreat, a lodge, or a learning center, is an amazing example of the home-builder's art. Natural materials set gracefully within natural surroundings. Constructed wholly of native western larch logs and local stone, with craftsmanship and attention to detail not often found in a modern "rustic" style structure.

Located at the tip of the Idaho panhandle, you can practically throw a stone into Canada. Set in mountain splendor and surrounded by hundreds of thousands of acres of National Forest lands, this home sits amidst 135 acres of pasture and timberland. Besides the private lake there are two streams with superior fishing on the property with more fishing and white water rafting available on the Moyie River just a mile away. Wildlife, in the form of moose, elk, deer, and bear abound as well as numerable bird species such as eagle, osprey, and a variety of ducks and geese.

The main floor consists of a "Great Room" centered on one side by a grand stone-lined entranceway and on the other by an entertainment bar that overlooks the lake and a rock lined hot-pool (complete with jets) that will accommodate twelve people. This main room is bookended by fireplaces whose stone chimney faces soar more than thirty feet to the ridgeline. The ridgeline is banked on either side by rows of skylights that create a wonderful all day play of light and shadow through the massive trusses into the room below.

On the other end of the "Great Room" and also open to it, the current owner has an office that overlooks the lake with space enough for four persons and it's own fireplace. Next to that a full greenhouse complete with potting benches, grow lights, and a gravel drain floor. The other side of this end is reserved for the main guest room also with its own fireplace (although most of the seven fireplaces are of native stone they all have a different, sometimes whimsical design) and a large bath with tiled shower and claw-footed tub.

On the other end of the "Great Room" and also open to it, is a family room, fireplace and half-bath. And on the lake side a kitchen that is a chef's dream. With Spanish-tiled flooring, a breakfast nook as well as a larger dining area overlooking the water and leading out to a large deck that does the same. An octagonal cooking island and work area which is both impressive and functional occupies the center of the room. Incorporated in the island are restaurant-grade gas range and ovens, deep fryer, griddle, and microwave. It also has extensive counter and under counter space and a unique appliance storage area in the center that raises and lowers electronically, complete with an herb garden on top. Along the hand-painted tiled walls and handy to the work area are an old fashioned wood range, (that works) a brick, custom built pizza and bread oven, and a built in reach-in refrigerator and freezer. Adjacent to all this is a large walk-in pantry and food storage area. To complete this end of the house on the ground floor is an oversize four car garage and a large utility laundry room with its own bathroom and shower.

The second floor of the house consists of six bedroom suites, all with private baths, fireplaces and outside decks with spectacular views of either the lake or surrounding mountains. These are accessed by an oak-railed mezzanine walkway that looks down into the great room below. One more feature reminiscent of a classic old-time lodge.

Although you can achieve a true sense of living in the wilderness here, from a practical standpoint you are not isolated. The property is just off Highway 95, Idaho's major north/south artery. Headed north you are 3 miles from the Canadian border, 65 miles from the Cranbrook International Airport and 6 hours from Calgary, Alberta by car. Southbound, you are just 25 miles from the Bonners Ferry airport (capable of handling the largest private jets) and 1 hour from the resort community of Sandpoint, on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille. Another hour takes you to Coeur d'Alene, and just a total of 2.5 hours from your door is Spokane, Washington's largest inland city.

From a fun and recreation standpoint, besides what you have in your own backyard, go any direction either in Canada or the U.S. and in a very short time you have access to world-class skiing, downhill, cross-country and helicopter, water sports, golf and of course some of the most pristine wilderness left in either country.

In sum, this home offers that "magical mix" inherent in the new lifestyle that we all seek. A place where one can combine work, the joy of family life, and a close association with nature, all in a healthy, beautiful, and safe setting that, although removed from the mainstream, is not completely cut off from others. "THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!"

Listed at $5 million U.S. - Seller will consider partial exchange of up to $1.5 million U.S. on ocean-front Mexico property.
